In this, The Life On 7 Strings Subscription, you gain access to all lesson content including the LO7S Primer, The LO7S Master Course and the forthcoming Mining The Pentatonics Drill Series! The LO7S Primer takes you from the open strings to rapid firing arpeggios over the entire fretboard in just 13 lessons. Even though it's currently a Primer Course to prepare you for LO7S Master, it will eventually evolve into a primary course in its own standing so don't gloss over this even if you are an experienced player, it WILL challenge you! In the 7 String Master Course we'll examine the 7 tone modal system and counterpart chordal numbering system from the perspective of the 7 string guitar and integrate the two. We'll also include the Pentatonic and Blues Scale Modes to complete what I like to call the "Threes, Fives and Sevens of Music" Once these are established we'll then begin to "play outside" as accidentals (tones from outside of the key) are either added or substituted to create musical interest. The goal is to develop a working knowledge of the melodic and harmonic range of all 7 strings, giving you complete command of this awesome instrument in creating music that's as adventurous as the instrument itself! Mining The Pentatonics - The Pentatonic System is the quintessential Bluesy Rock sounding system of patterns that fall easily under our fingers and as a result many guitarists get trapped there for years until they eventually find a way to step up to the Diatonic Modes. Mining The Pentatonics is a deep dive into a series of drills designed to dial in your left hand finger independence, your right hand economy picking and the synchronization of both hands that will make your Pentatonic playing to new heights and sound ferocious! It was inspired by Troy Stetina's Inside and Outside Picking studies in his monumental book "Speed Mechanics For Lead Guitar" but where he focuses on strict alternate picking and only on Box 1, I default to Economy Picking through all 5 Pentatonic Boxes.
